The 2024 Eau Claire Jazz Festival 'Concert Series' is proud to present an incomparable weekend of jazz featuring world renowned multi-instrumentalists Sean Jones and Lewis Nash.
Jones and Nash have gained recognition across the globe for their incredible skill, experience and passion. They'll share the stage with UW-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble I in a show that also features student category winners from the jazz festival happening at UW-Eau Claire campus that weekend.
Mr. Jones is a musical chameleon, comfortable in any musical setting no matter the role or genre. After a six-month stint with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis offered him a permanent position as lead trumpeter of the ensemble, a post he held from 2004 until 2010. Mr. Jones is an internationally recognized educator. He is president of the Jazz Education Network and holds the Richard and Elizabeth Case Chair in Jazz Studies at The John Hopkins University's Peabody Institute in Baltimore. As well as artistic Director for the NYO JAZZ Program of Carnegie Hall.
Mr. Nash is one of jazz's most recorded musicians, appearing on over 500 recordings including 10 Grammy winners and numerous Grammy nominees. In fact, Nash has the distinction of being the only musician in jazz history featured on the winners in both the Best Jazz Vocal and Best Jazz Instrumental album categories in two separate years. Lewis is in great demand for his educational expertise as well as his drumming skills, and presents clinics, masterclasses and workshops at institutions worldwide. He was a member of the very first jazz studies faculty at The Juilliard School in 2001.
The 59th Annual Eau Claire Jazz Festival is presented by Eau Claire Jazz Inc. in partnership with the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. We welcome students in the community to join this year's Concert Series to experience these world-class artists at the beautiful Pablo Center for the confluence.
